Dear students,

One of you pointed out that the first date for the presentations (June 8) collides with a holiday. This means there is no seminar on that day and we will have to re-schedule the 2 presentations from that day to the later dates (i.e. have 3 instead of 2 presentations on the following  weeks).
The revised schedule is as follows. As this news item is public, I left out your names and just listed the paper name. If you are unsure which paper you are presenting, please contact me.

15 June
DolphinAttack: Inaudible Voice Commands
Relay attacks on passive keyless entry and start systems in modern cars
The KNOB is Broken: Exploiting Low Entropy in the Encryption Key Negotiation Of Bluetooth BR/EDR
22 June
Ghost talk: Mitigating EMI signal injection attacks against analog sensors
Frankenstein: Advanced Wireless Fuzzing to Exploit New Bluetooth Escalation Targets
Drone Security and the Mysterious Case of DJI's DroneID
29 June
Detecting Attacks Against Robotic Vehicles: A Control Invariant Approach
M2MON: Building an MMIO-based Security Reference Monitor for Unmanned Vehicles

Fuzzware: Using Precise MMIO Modeling for Effective Firmware Fuzzing

Later slots are unchanged.
Looking forward to seeing you on June 15!

LSF registration should be possible now

Written on 09.05.23 by Nils Ole Tippenhauer

Dear students,

thanks for bringing up the issues with LSF registrations. This was a configuration issue, registration should now be possible. Please register within a week if you intend to take this proseminar. For exchange students: I will write a "Schein" for you later.

Regards,

Nils

We are starting 30 minutes earlier from now on (12:30 to 14:00)

Hi students in the Physical-Layer Security proseminar,

Thanks for voting in the Doodle poll. We unfortunately didn't find a slot that suits everyone, but the best slot is

Thursdays, 1-2pm

We will have the first meeting (i.e. the Kick-Off) next week Thursday. On that day, I will also let you choose papers to read/present in this proseminar. I will upload slides that I will present the day before on CMS here. I might record the seminar sessions, but I have not finally decided to do so - we can discuss in the next meeting.

I organized a room for the proseminar, it is 0.05 (lecture hall) at CISPA Stuhlsatzenhaus 5.

I updated the calendar in CMS with the planned dates of the proseminar later in this term - there will be some holidays, times when the room is not available, or I am traveling.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Hi all students for the Physical-Layer Security proseminar,

a number of additional students joined in the last days as their proseminar was cancelled. It appears that we didn't find a timeslot so far that fits all of you - so I would like to give the doodle poll a second try. Please fill/update your availability here until THU morning 10am:
https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/eZzvGW2e

I will then select the most popular option and update you via mail. Please select slots that work in general for you, i.e. also in the following weeks. Depending on the number of students, we potentially will only meet every 2nd week, I'll announce more details later. Sorry for the last minute changes, but I was not expecting to get this many additional students.
Cheers,

Nils

Physical-Layer Security

The practical implementation of (theoretically) secure systems adds physical aspects that can be exploited by an attacker.  In this seminar, students will learn to present, discuss, and summarize papers on established and recent attacks that are leveraging the physical layer, and potential countermeasures and mitigations. Example topics to be discussed are attacks leveraging physical access to devices, attacks related to sensing and control of IoT and Industrial Control Systems. The seminar is taught as a reading group with bi-weekly meetings. Students will get a paper assigned to them to present. All students in the seminar are required to have read the paper and participate in the discussions during the meeting.
