Dear Students,
The following is an announcement for a related seminar talk at CISPA. Feel free to participate if you are interested - but this completely voluntary and has no impact on your grades or similar.
Next Wednesday 22.4., Prof. Vincent Lenders (Uni Luxembourg) will give a seminar talk at 2pm, 0.02 in the CISPA building.
Title: Critical Infrastructure Security in the Era of Agentic AI
Abstract: Critical infrastructure, including energy systems, transportation networks, water supply, healthcare, telecommunications, etc, form the backbone of modern societies and economies. In recent years, the security landscape surrounding these systems has been profoundly challenged by the rise of hybrid threats and rapid breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI). State and non-state actors increasingly exploit cyberspace as a domain of strategic competition, targeting critical infrastructure to disrupt essential services, exert political pressure, and undermine public trust. At the same time, advances in AI are transforming offensive cyber capabilities, enabling more sophisticated attacks, faster vulnerability discovery, and large-scale targeted cyber operations.
In this talk, I will present key insights and lessons learned from my research and security testing experience during 15 years at the Swiss Cyber-Defence Campus and armasuisse. Building on this experience, I will outline the vision and research agenda of my new group at the University of Luxembourg, which aims to develop AI-powered cyber defence systems to strengthen the resilience of critical infrastructure against emerging hybrid and AI-driven threats. The talk will explore how recent advances in artificial intelligence are reshaping both offensive and defensive cyber capabilities, and will highlight key open challenges and research directions for protecting safety-critical cyber-physical systems in an increasingly contested digital environment
