Dear students,

I finished grading the exercises. If you intend to write the final examination, please enrol soon on LSF.

Please note that (as announce in the intro slides) the final grade of the class is 40% exercises and 60% final exam. If you did not submit exercises, you will not be able to get more than 60% of the final grade even with perfect written final examination.

I will be out of office for the next 3 weeks. You can write emails, but in the worst case I can only reply after that time.

Regards,

Nils

Dear Students,

The following is an announcement for a related seminar talk at CISPA. Feel free to participate if you are interested - but this completely voluntary and has no impact on your grades or similar.

Next Wednesday 22.4., Prof. Vincent Lenders (Uni Luxembourg) will give a seminar talk at 2pm, 0.02 in the CISPA building.

Title: Critical Infrastructure Security in the Era of Agentic AI

Abstract: Critical infrastructure, including energy systems, transportation networks, water supply, healthcare, telecommunications, etc, form the backbone of modern societies and economies. In recent years, the security landscape surrounding these systems has been profoundly challenged by the rise of hybrid threats and rapid breakthroughs in artificial intelligence (AI). State and non-state actors increasingly exploit cyberspace as a domain of strategic competition, targeting critical infrastructure to disrupt essential services, exert political pressure, and undermine public trust. At the same time, advances in AI are transforming offensive cyber capabilities, enabling more sophisticated attacks, faster vulnerability discovery, and large-scale targeted cyber operations.

In this talk, I will present key insights and lessons learned from my research and security testing experience during 15 years at the Swiss Cyber-Defence Campus and armasuisse. Building on this experience, I will outline the vision and research agenda of my new group at the University of Luxembourg, which aims to develop AI-powered cyber defence systems to strengthen the resilience of critical infrastructure against emerging hybrid and AI-driven threats. The talk will explore how recent advances in artificial intelligence are reshaping both offensive and defensive cyber capabilities, and will highlight key open challenges and research directions for protecting safety-critical cyber-physical systems in an increasingly contested digital environment

Dear students in CPSS'26,

we will start with the first lecture today THU 9.4. at 12.15 (sharp). Lecture location is the lecture hall at CISPA (E9.1 on campus, Stuhlsatzenhaus 5). I will generally also livestream to zoom (link in material collection). As this will be the first lecture, I'll introduce the lecture format and planned content for this year, and will also check with you on preferred content from your side. I plan to record lectures in this class and to put them on Youtube afterwards, but please be aware that those recordings are not guaranteed as they may fail due to various technical issues. Please make sure to attend the lecture!

I also activated the askbot extension, please feel free to use it to ask questions that a) could be answered by other students, or b) can be answered by me and might be of interest for other students.

Hope to see you all today,
Nils
