Discussion Instructions
The Discussion Phase
After submitting your reviews on HotCRP, you can now see reviews from the other reviewers. You have now the possibility to interact with your peers and exchange ideas about the papers. This is commonly referred to as the discussion phase.
In the scope of the seminar, for each of your assigned paper, we want you to engage with your peers to discuss:
- the positive points of the paper
- the limitations of the paper
- ethical considerations
- future research directions
The main idea is for all three reviewers to converse and converge on a consensual opinion of the paper.
You are welcome to edit your reviews during this phase. Please add a change log at the end of the review: e.g., "[edit] [date] rectification of the threat model to account for blah"
Additionally, for this seminar, we want you to also help the champion flesh out a list of actionable next steps for the rest of the semester (see instructions for the final report).
Example of such actionable next steps are a small proof of concept implementation, asymptotic costs of the use of alternative building blocks, extension to another threat model, application to other use-cases, etc.
@Champions; make sure to curate a list of these next steps
As a rule of thumb, if you are not sure about what to do, please just drop us a message and we will be happy to help.
The discussion phase will last until the presentations (see program).
