Foundations of Cyber Security II

The re-exam will take place tomorrow at 10:00 in the Günter-Hotz lecture hall. Make sure to be there on time!

The same regulations apply as in the main exam:

• The exam lasts 120 mins and you can earn up to 120 points. You'll pass with 50% or more.
• Bring your student ID.
• You may bring and use one handwritten double-sided A4 sheet that contains any notes you like to have. We will rigorously reject any printed A4 sheet.
• You can bring and use an English/German dictionary.
• Use a non-erasable pen to answer the exam.
• Respect the seating plan to see where you are seated. It's uploaded to CMS in the Material section.

We just published the results for the last exercise sheet, and the exam admission. Please take a look on your Personal Status in the CMS. We will take corrections made after tomorrows tutorials into account.

EDIT: The LSF/Hispos registration deadline was last Thursday. Please excuse the error in the previous news.

Take a look at the seating plan, which is released in the Material's section. If you are admitted to the exam but your immatriculation number is not on the seating plan, inform us as soon as possible.

We decided to move the deadline of the fifth exercise sheet to Saturday, June 10th at 23:59. This will give all of you who were busy with the programming two deadline more time to work on the assignments.

To have enough time for the correction the tutorials on June 13th are canceled and June 15th is a public holiday.

The next tutorials will happen in two weeks on June 20th with the discussion of the fifth exercise sheet.

To prepare you for Python-based exercises, next week there will be Python tutorials instead of normal tutorials. You can choose to attend any of the two offered slots at 10:00-12:00 or 16:00 - 18:00. Both Python tutorials will be given by Michael Brengel in the CISPA lecture hall (E9 1; ground floor). The exercise sheet that would have been discussed on that date will be discussed in the week after. Due to the lack of interest for the early time slot, the Python tutorial will not be held at 8-10.

Starting from May 23rd, we are back to normal with all three time tutorial time slots (8-10, 10-12 and 16-18). We will, however, merge the two tutorials at Tue 10-12. Students of Jonas' tutorial are supposed to attend Alexandro's tutorial instead (same time; room 015 in E1 3) from then on.

We started to maintain a list of errata found both in the class books and/or slides in CMS: https://cms.cispa.saarland/cysec2/2/Errata

We will update this list from time to time, whenever we spot further errors. Thanks for your help so far pointing some of them out. Obviously finding each such error is also worth a bug bounty.

We have just assigned you to the CySec II tutorials. We could assign the primary choice to 85% of all students, and the secondary choice to the other 15%. You can check your tutorial in CMS on your personal status website. Tutorials will start on May 9th with a discussion of exercise sheet #01. Note that sheet #01 is due Thu, May 4th at 13:59. Good luck!

We have just published the slides of today's lecture. Also, please start working on the first exercise sheet, which you can also download via CMS since today 4pm. By tomorrow morning we will tell you what tutorial you are in so that you can team up with a partner. Deadline for the exercise sheet submission (only via CMS) is upcoming Thursday at 13:59, i.e., before the next lecture.

Welcome to CMS. Quick updates:

• To those of you that registered before April 20 ~8pm, you could just select two out of three tutorial slots. This problem is now solved, so please go ahead and update your tutorial preferences for the Tue 8am slot ASAP.
• Slides of today's lecture (chapters 01 and 02) are online.
• Askbot seems to have an issue for reading questions. We're on it and get this fixed soon.
